PSV will NOT make it to the group stage of the Champions League. At least, if we are to believe the bookmakers. After the 2-1 win in Portugal, Benfica is the top favourite to continue at the expense of the people of Eindhoven. But, strangely enough, the bookies do think that PSV will win. How about that? PSV has started excellently, with resounding victories over Galatasaray, FC Midtjylland, Ajax, Heracles and Cambuur. Indeed at home, it showed in the previous preliminaries of the CL that they are not to be trifled with. So the days of Osijek home are over, so to speak. That is why bookmakers such as 888sport and Unibet also think that PSV will win at home again, this time against Benfica.

Extension?

But at the same time, they also think that PSV will not win by enough goals to brush away last week’s 2-1 defeat in Lisbon. The bookies are betting that PSV will win at most with 1 goal difference against Benfica. Still, the Portuguese will pull the longest in extra time.
Score at least 2 times

Because away goals no longer count ‘double’ since the start of this season, PSV must win by at least 2 goals difference to proceed directly (within 90 minutes) to the Champions League group stage. Every Eindhoven victory with 1 goal difference results in an extension and possibly penalties.

What are the odds?

For a PSV win, whether or not that’s enough to continue, Unibet gives you 2.02 times your investment back. With 888sport, the odd is the same. When qualifying for the group stage, we do see slight differences among the bookies. Unibet offers PSV ‘to go through’ 1.52 times your stake. 888sport is slightly better with 1.54.

Number of goals

Then the number of goals. Since PSV MUST score 2 times to qualify for the group stage, you can bet on that too. Unibet offers 1.84 times your stake if you say PSV scores 2 goals or more. 888sport does not provide that bet.

If you think both teams will score, you are at an odd of around 1.65 with both bookies. Winning PSV and both teams scores are 3.65, but only playable at Unibet.
